This novel has an interesting premise and although I thought it deviated a little from the plot it was a fast and interesting read.

Ray Lilly works with Annalise Powliss as her "wooden man". They are sorcerers dedicated to
capturing and killing rogue magicians. Annalise is ruthless in her execution. She becomes injured and not at her full potential and its up to Ray to save the town from the magician from killing innocent children for the benefit of attaining supernatural power.

I liked both protagonists as they had appealing attributes and although very different in their personalities they offset each other offering a balance of nice guy/bad guy.
The plot moved along at a good clip and I look forward to reading more books featuring Ray and Annalise.
